Terms and Conditions
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the CHIPS AWAY BRISTOL LTD website or booking any vehicle repair service with us.
Overview
These Terms and Conditions explain how you may use this website and the basis on which CHIPS AWAY BRISTOL LTD provides its services.
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website located at https://chips-away-bristol.site (the "Website") and any services you book or enquire about through the Website or via the contact details provided on it.
By accessing, browsing or using the Website, and by submitting any booking or enquiry for our services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must not use the Website or proceed with a booking.
In these Terms, "CHIPS AWAY BRISTOL LTD", "we", "us" and "our" refer to CHIPS AWAY BRISTOL LTD, and "you" and "your" refer to the individual, business or organisation accessing the Website or booking our services.
2. Service Scope
CHIPS AWAY BRISTOL LTD is a motor vehicle repair specialist based in Bristol, United Kingdom. We focus on cosmetic and minor bodywork repairs delivered at competitive rates compared with traditional bodyshops. Subject to assessment and suitability, our services may include:
- paintwork chip and scratch repair;
- bumper scuff restoration and refinishing;
- minor dent removal and localised bodywork rectification;
- alloy wheel refurbishment and cosmetic repairs;
- colour matching, blending and finish enhancement;
- cosmetic bodywork repairs for cars, vans and fleet vehicles.
All services are subject to an initial assessment of your vehicle, the type and extent of damage, and whether the work is technically and safely achievable using our methods and equipment. We reserve the right to decline or amend any service where, in our professional judgement, the repair would be unsafe, ineffective, uneconomical or outside our normal scope of work.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, our services are cosmetic in nature and are not intended to remedy structural damage or underlying mechanical or safety-related issues. Any estimated repair outcomes or visual improvements are indicative only and will vary depending on the original condition of the vehicle, the paint system and prior repairs.
3. User Obligations
When using the Website or booking our services, you agree to:
- provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information about yourself, your contact details and your vehicle, including the make, model, registration, colour and details of the damage;
- inform us promptly of any changes to your contact details or vehicle details that may affect a quotation or booking;
- ensure that you are legally entitled to authorise repairs on the vehicle (for example, as the owner, hirer, lessee or authorised representative);
- make the vehicle available at the agreed time, date and location, ensuring we have safe and reasonable access to the vehicle for the duration of the repair;
- remove any personal belongings or valuables from the vehicle and the immediate working area before work commences;
- comply with any pre-service instructions we provide, such as washing the vehicle or avoiding certain cleaning products before the repair;
- behave in a respectful manner towards our technicians and staff, and not use the Website for any unlawful, abusive or defamatory purpose.
If you fail to meet these obligations, we may be unable to carry out the repair or may need to reschedule or cancel the booking. In such circumstances, charges may apply in accordance with our cancellation and rebooking policies set out below.
4. Booking and Payment Policies
You can request a quotation or book a consultation via the Website, by email, by telephone or through other contact channels that we make available from time to time. Any quotation we provide is based on the information and images supplied by you and/or our inspection of the vehicle.
Quotations. Quotations are usually provided as an estimate and are subject to change if, upon closer inspection at the time of the appointment, we discover additional or previously undisclosed damage, prior poor repairs or conditions that affect the scope of work. We will discuss any material change in price with you before proceeding.
Deposits and confirmations. We may require a deposit or pre-authorisation to secure your booking, particularly for longer jobs, fleet work or where materials must be ordered in advance. A booking is not confirmed until we have issued written confirmation (for example by email or SMS) and, where applicable, received the required deposit.
Payment methods. We generally accept common UK payment methods, which may include debit or credit card, bank transfer or other methods notified to you at the time of booking or completion. Payment terms will be confirmed to you before any work is undertaken.
Timing of payment. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment in full is due immediately on completion of the repair. For business and fleet customers, alternative credit terms may be agreed in advance and confirmed in writing.
Cancellations and rescheduling. If you need to cancel or change your booking, you must contact us as early as reasonably possible. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable cancellation or call-out fee, or to withhold a deposit, where:
- you cancel or reschedule with insufficient notice, meaning we cannot reasonably reallocate the appointment slot; or
- we attend the agreed location but are unable to carry out the work due to your failure to meet the User Obligations above.
Late payment. Where credit terms have been agreed and payment is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to charge interest, administrative fees and recovery costs in line with applicable UK law, including the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where relevant.
5. Service Delivery
We aim to deliver professional, efficient and convenient mobile repair services. The specific method of service delivery may vary depending on the type and extent of damage, the vehicle and the location.
Standards of workmanship. All work is carried out by or under the supervision of trained technicians using suitable tools, materials and techniques for the type of repair. While we always aim for a high-quality cosmetic finish, some repairs may not restore the vehicle to a factory-new condition, particularly where there is age-related wear or existing defects.
Estimated timescales. Any timescales we give for arriving at your location or completing a repair are estimates only, based on typical conditions. Actual times may vary due to traffic, weather, complexity of the job, unforeseen issues uncovered during the repair or factors beyond our reasonable control.
Mobile repair limitations. Many of our services are carried out using mobile repair units at your home, workplace or other agreed location. You acknowledge that:
- we require a safe, legal and reasonably level working area with sufficient space to access the vehicle and open doors fully;
- we may need access to an electrical supply and, in some cases, adequate lighting or shelter;
- adverse weather conditions (such as heavy rain, strong wind, extreme temperatures or poor light) may affect the quality or safety of the repair, or prevent us from working;
- we may, at our discretion, postpone, suspend or relocate the work if conditions are unsuitable, unsafe or would materially compromise the repair.
If work cannot proceed due to location or weather constraints, we will discuss alternative arrangements with you, which may include rescheduling or carrying out part of the work at another time. Additional charges may apply where we have already incurred travel or set-up costs.
6. Guarantees and Warranty
We stand behind the quality of our workmanship and aim to provide durable cosmetic repairs. Where stated at the time of booking or on your invoice, we may offer a limited warranty on specific repairs covering defects in workmanship or materials under normal use.
The scope and duration of any warranty will be set out in writing and may vary depending on the type of repair, the age and condition of the vehicle, and other relevant factors. Unless expressly confirmed by us, no open-ended or lifetime guarantee is provided.
The warranty does not cover:
- further impact damage, accidents, vandalism or misuse following completion of the repair;
- stone chips, abrasive cleaning, chemical exposure or environmental fallout (for example bird lime, tree sap or road salt);
- rust, corrosion or underlying structural issues that pre-date the repair or arise after completion due to factors outside our control;
- repairs that have been altered, reworked or interfered with by a third party after our work is completed;
- colour or shade differences that are within the reasonable tolerances of automotive refinishing, particularly on older paintwork or where adjacent panels have previously been repainted.
To make a warranty claim, you must contact us promptly after noticing an issue, provide proof of the original repair and allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle and, if appropriate, to rectify the problem. Our liability under any warranty is limited to reworking the affected area or, at our discretion, refunding the price paid for the specific repair.
7. Limitations of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other matter that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law.
Subject to the above, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, consequential or purely economic losses, including loss of use of the vehicle, loss of income, loss of profit, business interruption or loss of opportunity, arising out of or in connection with our services or your use of the Website; and
- our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to a specific repair or service shall not exceed the total amount paid or payable by you for that repair or service.

- consent, where applicable, to us using your first name, initials, general location (for example "Bristol customer") and vehicle details (for example make and model) alongside the content, provided we do so in a respectful and non-misleading way.
We reserve the right, at our discretion, to edit, moderate, decline to publish or remove any feedback or testimonial that we consider to be inappropriate, misleading, inaccurate or in breach of these Terms or applicable law.
